Into the Negev - 4 Day Desert Tour

This multi-day tour in Israel will reveal the Negev Desert to you in all of its magnificent beauty, telling its story from the ancient past to present day. We will pick you up from Tel Aviv to embark on the adventure, and pass through all of the places you absolutely must see in Israel's desert: the Ramon Crater, Ein Akev Oasis, and the Dead Sea. After 4 days and 3 nights of a magnificent adventure, we will drop you off in Jerusalem.        


This tour departs on Saturdays.

Day 1 – Saturday – The Byzantine Period

Morning: Pick up from hotel in Tel-Aviv

We’ll begin the day with a scenic drive south through the southern slopes of Judea Mountains and through Beit Guvrin - an important town in the Roman era.

Noon: We will visit Shivta - one of the biggest cities of the Nabateans in Israel, which was a flourishing desert agriculture center in that period.

Day 2 – Sunday – Into the Negev

Morning: We’ll start the day early and explore the Ramon Crater - the biggest naturally erosive crater in the world. A moderate hike starting from Ein Saharonim to Wadi Ardon and Nekarot Canyon where we will see some of the most incredible geological phenomena of this area and the lively nature of the crater.

Evening: After returning to the camp we will go star gazing and enjoy a local wine tasting.

Day 3 – Monday – Following the Desert Nomads

Morning: We’ll take a jeep tour from Sde Boker to the fresh water spring of Ein Akev, truly one of the most beautiful springs in the Israeli desert.

Noon: We’ll head out for a hike on Mount Michya to see rock engravings made by the first nomads. We’ll then visit a local Bedouin family, where we will learn about the nomadic lifestyle in modern times.

Afternoon: We'll learn about modern agriculture and the evolving whine industry in the desert in one of the "Lone Farms" of the Negev. We'll learn why and how vineyards and olive groves became common view in the Negev.

Day 4 – Tuesday – From the Craters Land to the Lowest Place on Earth

Morning: Morning hike along the "Snapir" (fin) Trail will offer us a great view of Makatesh Gadol (the big crater).

Noon: Scenic ride through Akrabim Road, from the hills of the Judea Desert to Arava Valley – home to the lowest place on earth.

Afternoon: We’ll make a short stop on the beach of the Dead Sea to experience this amazing sea and get to feel just what it’s like to float effortlessly in the salty water (weather permitting).

Evening: We will say goodbye in Jerusalem.
